Tournament Structure
In order to participate in a Regional Golf Cup event, players must be at least 16 years of age on the date of the tournament and no player may be registered as a professional golfer. Regional Golf Cup events are solely for golfers with amateur status. If Regional Golf Cup learns that a registered professional golfer is participating in an event, the team of that player will be disqualified without a refund.
All tournaments will be a two man scramble. Players may register as pairs or enter as a free agent where you will be randomly paired with another player. Teams will be randomly paired to make all groups a foursome. Tournaments will use a tee time starting format, although this is subject to change. Should events turn out to be large enough and filling up far enough in advance, events may use a shotgun start instead. The set of tees that players will be required to play from will vary by course and will be communicated accordingly.
Scoring
Each regular season Cup will be an 18 hole stroke play event. Should two teams finish with the same score, we will use the handicap system to determine the winner. Golf is a gentleman’s game, and cheating will not be tolerated. It is the responsibility of each team to keep the score of the team they are paired with as well as themselves. After each hole, check with your playing partners and make sure you are all on the same page. If there are consistent discrepancies, let the tournament organizers know. Teams suspected of cheating may be joined by a Regional Golf Cup organizer in future tournaments.
